Mediterranean fisherman’s cottage on Marina for rent – This charming purpose built fisherman’s cottage stands on the Port du Roy Marina at Aigues Mortes, a lively, historic walled town in the heart of Languedoc, affording spectacular views over the Camargue. Part of a new development within the Marina complex, La Maison Occitane boasts several traditional features, a fully equipped kitchen and furnishings in the local style. The views from the balcony are stunning and the terrace provides an ideal chill out spot for dining or enjoying a dive in the plunge pool whilst enjoying the yachts passing by along the canal.
The enviable location of this house means you can stroll into Aigues Mortes with its many shops and restaurants, and is ideal for touring the canal system with many organised boat trips or with an individual daily boat hire. For tennis, sailing and windsurfing you can go to one of the many sandy beaches nearby, which also offer miles of open, totally undeveloped walking space, enclosed by pristine forests and sand dunes. The canal paths provide excellent car free trekking and cycling routes. You may decide to explore the amazing Camargue countryside and meet its famous horses and black bulls, or sample the delicious local food and superb variety of wines in one of the many beautiful villages and marinas scattered everywhere in this region.
Languedoc, once called Occitane, has always had a very distinct cultural identity, ever since the troubadours time in the late Middle Ages, producing the most refined poems in its own latin-based language, la langue d’oc. History and art lovers will find this region extremely appealing, full of ruined castles, early Romanesque abbeys and abundant Roman antiquities, such as the amphitheatre and archaeological collections in Nimes, not to mention the history on your doorstep - Aigues Mortes was the departure point for the Crusades.
