Here you can simply relax by the pool, soak up the rural views, discover ancient hilltop towns, enjoy water sports at Lake Bracciano or change the pace with a trip or two into Rome, just an hour away. This is authentic Italy, slightly off the beaten track but close enough to very easily rejoin it whenever you want!

You will find shops and restaurants at the nearby little town of Otricoli, which is perhaps best known for its position on the Via Flaminia, the ancient road built and used by the Romans to travel from the centre of Rome, across Lazio and Umbria to the Adriatic coast, and subsequently used in medieval times to continue on to Ravenna. Certainly Rome would make a wonderful day out from this villa. The fast train from Orte station (easy parking) will get you to the centre of Rome in just 50 minutes! Beautiful, historic towns such as Assisi, Viterbo and Tarquinia would also make particularly memorable trips.
The famous Marmore waterfalls are only a short drive away and really not to be missed by any visitor to this area: you can go rafting here too.

Another worthwhile trip from this country villa with pool on wine estate is Lake Bracciano, a volcanic lake offering a wide variety of water-based activities. A day out at the seaside is perfectly possible too, with resorts only an hour and a half's drive west, on Lazio's Maremma coast.
