Villa near Orvieto - This is a wonderfully restored private residence, derelict until September 2006, it has recently been the subject of an exhaustive and caring restoration by the new owners resulting in an ambient, modern and stylish holiday home. It is located right on the border with Tuscany and Umbria, with Lazio also nearby, although technically located in Umbria.

Traditional Umbrian design including cotto floor tiles and chestnut beams have been complemented by modern amenities, clean white walls, dramatic lighting and contemporary bathrooms. The large kitchen stretches the length of the house and sports a fine handmade dining table, seating 12, which leads to a cosy seating area in front of an open fire. For those that like to work up an appetite for dinner, there is also a games room with table football and table tennis table. If this is not enough, it is even possible to walk to Lake Bolsena (1 hr 30 mins) from the property!

The bedrooms are all located upstairs, one with balcony and working fireplace. All have ensuite facilities.
The garden and grounds enjoy wonderful, uninterrupted views. There is a roomy terrace for outdoor dining alongside the original pizza oven, whilst several trees offer cool shade in the summer months, in addition to the numerous parasols provided. A ' pilgrims' path passes by the property, used by occasional farm workers and walkers, that links Lake Bolsena to Orvieto through lovely countryside including vineyards, olive groves and fields full of wild flowers.

Castel Giorgio offers the nearest supermarkets whilst for a greater choice of shops and places to eat out (as well as sightsee) then Orvieto is not to be missed. Bolsena is a very attractive town (and lake) with several good restaurants. Rome and Florence are easily accessed from Orvieto train station.
