Description This magnificent estate is situated in the heart of rural Tuscany, between San Gimignano and Siena. The approach to the villa is along a drive lined with cypress trees which leads up to the courtyard around which the main house and annexes are set. Its hilltop position gives a 360 degree view of the countryside for miles around, while the estate itself is surrounded by mature gardens comprising cypress and olive trees, flowering shrubs, roses and vines. The villa was originally built in the 14th century and extended over two hundred years ago. The estate has been under the ownership of the same Italian family for centuries, and it has recently been completely renovated to provide extremely comfortable accommodation for large groups. The annexes have also been refurbished and offer additional flexibility for families and/or friends travelling together, with the main villa accommodating 25 and the annexes 6 and 2 respectively. Internally the villa is spacious and luxuriously furnished. All the rooms are tastefully decorated to a very high standard. Antique furniture in keeping with the age and standing of the house is subtly blended with more modern elements such as the updated bathrooms. The internal chapel and one of the bedrooms are beautifully decorated with restored frescoes. All the bedrooms, which are thoughtfully named for their individual colour theme, are connected by telephone to the main switchboard and all have their own safe box. There is also scope to close off some bedrooms to form private suites within the main house. The high level of service that you can expect to receive at this prestigious villa cannot be over-emphasised. Several experienced staff members are based on site but they are highly professional and unobtrusive, and your privacy will be respected at all times. The estate has enjoyed successful visits from and hosted important celebrations on behalf of a number of high-profile figures, including world-ranking politicians, religious leaders and entrepreneurs. The staff are accustomed to looking after their guests well and providing assistance at every level. Tenuta Val d' Elsa is ideally situated just a 20 minute drive from Siena and only 40 minutes from Florence and the nearest airport. Historical Tuscan hilltop towns such as San Gimignano, Volterra and Monteriggioni are very close by, while others such as Montalcino (known for its famous Brunello wine) would make a very enjoyable day trip. |
