Do spend time in nearby Lucca - a lively and authentic town full of beautiful buildings, attractive shops and excellent restaurants. Classic Italy. Bikes are popular here: you can hire one and ride along the avenue which was laid out along the top of the ancient city walls in 1800; this is a perfect place for a stroll as well - there are great views of the city and surrounding countryside. If you fancy a day at the seaside you can drive to the Versilia coast (the seaside resort of Viareggio would be a good choice). And if you're here at the end of August, why not nip down the road to the medieval village of Barga - musicians come from all over the world to perform at the acclaimed Jazz Festival here. There's a full week of live entertainment in every corner and square of this enchanting hamlet.
As you can imagine, this villa lets very quickly every year!
