If you want real luxury in the middle of extensive grounds, unforgettable views and a beautiful, large infinity pool, you cannot go wrong with Domus Romana.
If you base yourselves at this villa you will find it quite easy to visit a number of Italy's best-known towns and cities, all of which offer much to see and do. The pictureque hill town of Todi is only 8 miles away. Come in July for the spectacular two-week international ballooning competition, or later in the season for the big arts Festival (end of August). If you are here in June or September, go and watch the Quintana, a spectacular costumed jousting tournament in Foligno. If you miss the seaside, head west to the Lago di Bolsena, a crystal clear lake formed in the crater of an extinct volcano. The water is pure enough to drink and the lake teems with fish, some of which are served at the lakeside restaurants. There are volcanic sandy beaches to enjoy, as well as swimming, sailing and boat trips to the islands in the centre of the lake. The crowds haven't discovered it yet, so you won't be struggling through hordes of tourists! Understandably, this villa gets booked up quite quickly.
