Excellent wine is produced in the Niccone Valley and the most well known can be found in Montepulciano, Orvieto and Torgiano. When you have chosen that perfect bottle of wine, create the perfect accompanying dish by visiting one of the many local village markets for a real taste of the authentic lifestyle of the Umbrian valleys.
Those interested in history and art will not be disappointed as this
area has a lot to offer in terms of Medieval hamlets, castles, art galleries and Romanesque abbeys; all reminders of its rich, centuries-old heritage. Among the most popular destinations for easy day trips are Florence, Siena, Assisi and Cortona, just to mention a few.

You will never forget this peaceful villa and its amazing views over the Umbrian countryside. You will find good restaurants and shops nearby in the little town of Umbertide: the local cuisine is very good. There are also many ‘pizzerie’. In many cases, eating out is as cheap as eating at home. The property is ideally placed to explore Tuscany and Umbria, since you are within easy reach of Siena, Arezzo, Assisi, Montalcino and Perugia (which hosts the famous Umbria Jazz Festival in July). In October there is a delicious aroma of chocolate for the Eurochocolate Festival. It is dedicated to lovers of the “food of the gods”). Other spectacular hilltop towns include Cortona, Preggio (with its annual classical music festival), Lisciano Niccone (with its 11th century castle) and Montone (where the annual Film Festival attracts an international audience). For slightly longer trips Rome and Florence are within two hours' drive.
